Archives: V.K. Krishna Menon at Tennis Club, 1928

Source: LSE Library Archive

A photograph of Tennis Club members at Malden, London on June 1928 found at LSE Library Archives. This caught my attention because the fourth person in the front row from the left is V.K. Krishna Menon.
He was influenced by Annie Besant to pursue further studies in England. Menonjoined London School of Economics and Political Science to pursue BSc in Economics and graduated with First Class Honours specialising in the history of political ideas. It is during his time at LSE that Menon came under the influence of Professor Harold Laski of the London School of Economics who once described Krishna Menon as “the only student from who he learnt something”. It is here the foundations are laid for Krishna Menon’s lifelong activism and arrogance.
